Our New Year’s wish came true!
January is a month for reflection, resolution, goal setting and new beginnings. At LANK, January is truly a special time as we showcase our school and programs for registration in February. As school directors, we know that once families visit our school, many of LANK’S unique qualities and warmth will shine through. But, what is the best way to attract new families and invite them to spend some time with us?
I must admit that idioms speak to me. “A picture is worth a thousand words” or “seeing is believing” both ring true to me, and make good sense in terms of what goes on in a typical day at LANK. For quite some time, I have been thinking about a short video that could capture a typical day at school and demonstrate to others exactly why our school is so special. I hoped that two or three minutes of footage would allow prospective and current families to recognize and share in the beauty we see every day. The joy we observe when children are focused on painting, the anticipation when cooking pumpkin muffins, understanding numeracy by exercising with their teacher, or the delight when playing outdoors amongst the beautiful named trees on our playground could be described in words. But when these daily moments are captured on film they become much more meaningful. In October, we invited a videographer to come to school and make a short film of classroom happenings. The end result is exactly what we hoped it would be! The film speaks for itself by giving parents a glimpse into the wonder, excitement, and love that we experience daily at LANK.
