Programs & Curriculum

Program Overview

LANK's programs include Junior Preschool for children aged two to three and 2 Day, 3 Day, and 4 Day preschool programs for ages three and up. All of these programs are offered as half-day sessions. LANK also has a 5-Day pre-kindergarten program available in either am or pm sessions. The full-day Kindergarten program accommodates 16 children and meets from 8:45 a.m. till 2:45 p.m. In total, LANK enrolls over 200 children each year in the various programs.

Lunch Bunch

For an additional charge, children may have lunch at LANK if they are enrolled in any of the preschool programs. Kindergarten students have lunch at school as part of their day.

Summer Camp

There are two summer programs at LANK. The first is a month-long camp offered to all enrolled children, aged three and above and to the community as available. Each year a theme is chosen that complements and expands the preschool curriculum. This camp begins in June and ends in early July.

Each July, LANK offers a camp that focuses on the ARTs. This is a two week program and is available for any child who is entering the 5 Day program or above.

Curriculum Overview

Curriculum development and teacher planning are a very important part of the LANK program. Specific goals and objectives have been developed by our experienced professional staff for each of the offered classes. These are refined and modified each year to meet the needs of our current students. A copy of these goals may be obtained from the teachers or the directors.

Teachers meet monthly to plan curriculum and daily projects for each unit. Copies of these plans are given to all parents so they may support what is happening at school and be aware of what their children are doing on a day-to-day basis.

Though LANK's preschoolers do not take field trips, numerous special programs and presentations are brought to LANK for curriculum enrichment. In recent years, some of these have included Reptiles Alive!, Dino-Rock, and the Bob Brown puppets. Each of these has coordinated with curriculum topics that have been studied on every level, school-wide.

LANK has a number of specialists that bring their expertise to each class. Depending on developmental level, the preschool and Kindergarten groups may have music, gymnastics, Spanish, GRACE Art or a combination of these that expand and enrich the programs.
