Volunteering
Parent participation notably enriches the school environment, and LANK offers a variety of ways for parents to become involved in their child’s school experience. We hope that each family will enjoy being part of the LANK school community.
Some of the regularly offered avenues for parent involvement are listed below. Please review the list and find the area(s) that are the best “fit” for you. Our hope is that every family will choose to participate in several areas, thus fostering a true sense of family at LANK. Click here to download the Parent Volunteer Form. Thanks for your help!
There are many family and community events planned each year, as well as committees that coordinate ongoing activities at LANK.
Class Parent
Class parents play a vital role in making all LANK families feel like they are part of the community. The class parent acts as the class liaison - communicating important news, organizing social gatherings of classmates and parents outside of school, assisting with teacher appreciation projects and helping teachers to plan special class activities. Class Parents are assigned in early September. Those interested in this position should contact the Class Parent Coordinator vp.board@lankschool.com.
Parent Volunteers
This is an opportunity for parents to help teachers prepare school projects that are completed by the children in the classroom. A volunteer schedule is coordinated by the Parent Volunteer Coordinator, and parents can sign up to join a work party at school or at a host parent’s house. These work parties are set at times during both the AM and PM school sessions and occasionally in the evenings, based on interest. All you need to participate is a pair of scissors—materials are provided and the teachers are so appreciative of the support. To get involved, please contact the Parent Volunteer Coordinator vp.board@lankschool.com.
Fundraising Committee
Throughout the year the school sponsors fundraising activities designed to help raise valuable funds for LANK. These programs have included t-shirt and school bag sales, the New to You Sale, Retail Rewards Programs (Target, Giant, Harris Teeter, Safeway, and other stores sponsor programs that direct dollars to local schools), and an annual spring gala event.
The school’s Fundraising Chair, a member of the Board of Trustees, is responsible for directing all of these efforts. However, many hands are needed to help make all of these fundraising activities a success. We would love your support! If interested, please contact our Fundraising Chair. fundraising.chair@lankschool.com.
