Philosophy

Our total approach to early childhood education is what makes LANK so special. We believe that this individualized method allows each child to grow intellectually, physically, and socially so that they continue to be successful well after they have graduated from LANK.

To accomplish this mission, LANK staff strives to make learning enjoyable for children by incorporating a “learning through play” philosophy that provides for constructive, directed play corresponding with educational instruction. Our children are encouraged to interact, ask questions, and explore, thus stimulating their natural curiosity and desire to learn.

The many benefits of a LANK education include:

  • Challenging children to become critical thinkers
  • Practicing discovery, observation, comparison and problem solving
  • Developing language, literacy, and both fine and gross motor skills
  • Learning number skills, patterning, and rhyming
  • Emphasizing organizational skills
  • Encouraging sharing, taking turns, and cooperation
  • Promoting self-confidence, independence, initiative and resourcefulness
  • Learning to listen and to be sensitive to the needs of others
  • Encouraging flexible thinking, creativity, and experimentation
  • Taking responsibility for one’s actions
  • Respecting differences in cultural, ethnic, and family backgrounds
