KindergartenLANK’s only full day program, our Kindergarten presents an enriched experience in a small setting. With a maximum enrollment of 16 students, children work closely with two teachers and several specialists providing a highly individualized curriculum that prepares them for entry into any first grade in either public or private school. Our literacy program stresses a strong grounding in phonetic decoding skills as well as placing great emphasis on creative writing. The Lippincott Phonetics series is used. A conceptual approach is taken to math and follows the McGraw-Hill text, Math in Our World. The science curriculum is based on experimentation, and the children have hands-on experiences with a wide variety of topics including magnets, life cycles and geology. Social Studies is also stressed with units involving our community, our country and our world. Children work with a music specialist once weekly and have two gymnastics classes with gymnasts from the Legacy Gym weekly as well. Providing additional art experiences, GRACE Art is offered monthly. Spanish is taught twice weekly as well. The Spanish program mirrors the curriculum and spoken language is emphasized. Numerous field trips and several plays round out an outstanding curriculum experience for the Kindergarten student. Our full day and teacher ratio allow us extensive opportunities for individualization, and we are confident that our children leave LANK Kindergarten well prepared for the academic challenges ahead. |
